November in the garden
Share
As we near the end of November we’re embracing the changes in the garden at Bramble Flower Farm. The end of spring is here, and summer’s warmth is beginning to take hold, bringing a fresh burst of life to our flowers and crops. We’ve been busy tending to our blooms, preparing for the busy season ahead, and are excited for the months to come.
Growing with the Seasons
The garden is bursting with color this month! Our Cosmos, Calendula, Sweet Peas, and Roses have flourished, filling the garden with vibrant patches of color. Each morning, there are more blooms to pick, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the progress. We’re growing the 'Double Click' variety of Cosmos, which produces abundant frilly blooms in soft pinks and whites—perfect for adding texture to any arrangement. Our mixed-color Sweet Peas are another highlight, offering delightful pops of color and the sweetest scent that fills the air as we work.
With warm days perfect for growing, we’re eagerly anticipating the harvest of Sunflowers, Zinnias, and other varieties that are just beginning to bloom. Every time we pick a flower, we’re reminded of the magic of flower farming—the joy of watching a tiny seed (we’ve raised thousands of seedlings this season!) grow into a beautiful bloom, ready to brighten someone's day.
As the temperatures rise, we’re making sure the garden is well cared for. A big step for us this month was adding a healthy layer of mulch to the entire garden to help keep the delicate plants from drying out. Flower farming in New Zealand’s warmer months requires constant attention, but the effort is so worth it as we watch the garden continue to thrive.
